Scouting is deeply rooted in the heart of eagle owl Neeltje, a gnome from the very beginning

She was nine when she joined the gnomes. Neeltje Kok-Kik is now 87, but Scouting Bruinisse is still deep in her heart. So she was there this weekend at the kick-off of the anniversary year of her club, which she joined immediately after it was founded. Scouting Bruinisse is celebrating its 75th (or actually the 77.5th) anniversary this year. Two and a half years later than planned due to corona. She's called Eagle Owl Neeltje by the Bruse Scouts. And the scout building on Bakkersgat, Eagle Owl's Nest, is named after her. "I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought I'd sink through the ground," Neeltje recalls of that unveiling a few years ago.
