Village council Bruinisse

The village council is the link between the municipal administration and the local population. They act, as it were, as the municipal administration's feelers for what is going on among the residents. They also serve as the point of contact for the municipal administration regarding the quality of life in the village. On the other hand, the village council also fulfills a mouthpiece function from the residents and the village community to the municipality.

The village council also fulfills an important social function in the village, of which two examples are: the village council organizes the annual Remembrance Day ceremony at the general cemetery on Molenweg, and the village council organizes the flea markets for primary school children every year on Wednesday mornings during the summer holidays. Furthermore, the village council has its own subsidy budget which it may distribute annually at its own discretion among local associations, foundations, and events. Additionally, a portion of this subsidy budget is made available each year for organizing street and neighborhood barbecues, which various streets and neighborhoods organize themselves.

It is important to note that the village council accounts for the policy it pursues once a year in a public meeting. Furthermore, if necessary, new board members are presented at this meeting and their membership is confirmed.
