We all want to pass on a livable planet to future generations. This is only possible if we translate our climate ambitions into actions. Eneco is happy to help you with this. Are you curious about what you can do? Be inspired by the story of Albert Heijn. Albert Heijn wants to 'Make better food accessible, together. For everyone.' Based on this mission, they have the climate goal of being an emission-free chain (Net 0) by 2050. The intermediate target is to emit 45% less greenhouse gases in 2030 compared to 2018. Many steps have already been taken to achieve this goal. For example, the stores, distribution centers and offices have already completely switched to green energy. This is partly due to the switch to 100% Eneco HollandseWind®, and the installation of 28,000 solar panels on the distribution centers that are connected with special batteries to prevent peak loads. They have also been building and renovating all stores to be natural gas-free since 2010, meaning that 92% of the stores are now off gas. Transport is also an important component in Albert Heijn's CO2 reduction. Together with transport partners and suppliers, Albert Heijn is accelerating the sustainability of transport to stores and customers. For example, home delivery of groceries and the supply of shops in the center of major cities is now 100% electric and Albert Heijn is installing charging stations for its customers. Fast charging while shopping Albert Heijn and Eneco eMobility reached a collaboration agreement in 2022 for the installation of electric charging stations at Albert Heijn stores. In 2023, Eneco opened the first fast-charging stations at the XL stores in Nijmegen and Tilburg. At the beginning of this year, fast chargers were also installed at locations in Eindhoven, Ede and Borculo. It is expected that by the end of next year more than 200 charging points will have been realized that will receive power from Dutch wind farms. These measures make it even easier for Albert Heijn to make a conscious choice to come to the supermarket by electric transport, in addition to cycling or walking, of course. "With our charging stations, installed in collaboration with Eneco, we offer our customers a quick and easy way to charge their car while doing their shopping."
