Bruenaar Bruijnes disappoints at Graanbeurs tournament

On the first day of the Graanbeurs tournament, Maarten Bruijnes lagged behind the form he recently showed. In a group with Co Bolle and Nicky van Klinken as favorites and Peter Goedegebuure (photo), Bruenaar Bruijnes, despite his recent qualification for the National Championship, did not get further than one victory (against Goedegebuure). Van Klinken and Bolle were clearly a size too big for the rest and played with high averages. Van Klinken remained undefeated and finished at the top with six points, while Bolle finished second with four points. Goedegebuure occasionally showed nice caroms, but was unable to win a game and finished pointless. At the other table on the first day of the three-cushion tournament in Zierikzee, Peter van der Elst, Gerard Mol, Rein van Klinken, and Jan van der Straaten played. This group featured difficult play and long innings. Van der Elst ultimately proved the strongest, winning all his matches. The battle for second place was decided in favor of home player Gerard Mol, who thus advances to the next round along with Van der Elst.
