It is possible: with a few expensive adjustments the Grevelingenmeer will become fresh

It is possible to freshen Lake Grevelingen. With a new water intake in the east at the Grevelingen Dam and a "salt dam" that only allows salt water to pass through at the Brouwers Dam on the seaward side, the water could become 95 percent fresh. However, much remains uncertain: what will the fresher water do for nature? Will there be enough freshwater available? And will the water quality actually improve?
