Fig tree

Behind the house, sheltered from the strong wind, a fig tree seeks security. Its roots bear memories of Syria, where its ancestors provided shade, food, and comfort. It takes some getting used to for the fig tree, unfamiliar with the sea air or the harsh lowland wind. The Ficus carica, as it's formally called, can live for 300 years.
