Bruinisser Fishermen's Choir for 30 years

Who doesn't know our choir on Schouwen-Duiveland, the choir that has been around for 30 years! We have now become a household name, even far beyond Schouwen-Duiveland. It's my pleasure to write about this. It took a long time before we broke through on the island with our performances. We performed about 20 times a year, only twice on Schouwen. That has now changed. As in this year: 9 pieces. This gives us great pleasure. The choir is led by conductor Nelleke Bruggeman. On average, we have about 30 singers and the accompaniment is provided by 2 accordionists, a keyboardist and a Cajon player. Our repertoire is mainly Dutch and we sing sea shanties. We perform during Harbor Days, in elderly centers and care homes, at day markets, at festivities and company parties. Despite the high average age of the choir, we are an enthusiastic club and have a lot of fun together. We think it's a shame that not more young people sign up, because singing is very relaxing and good to clear the head. And the excuse of I can't sing is far behind us, we don't have a conservatory either, number 1 is that we enjoy singing. The rehearsal evening is on Thursday evening in the Church on the Noorddijk in Bruinisse. Feel free to come by if you want to hear us and the coffee is ready.
